The following is a Review of Road Conditions and a Reconnaissance Channel Assessment for streams in the East Bone Creek Residual Sub-basin (face unit). This project was undertaken as a result of recommendations made by the Clearwater Forest Districts' District Manager in a letter dated October 19, 1999. The District manager identified that the Bone Creek Residual Sub-basin east of the North Thompson River required a review of the road conditions and the channels because of a high equivalent Clear-cut Area (ECA). The purpose of the assessment is to: 1) Identify the status of roads in the sub-basin; 2) Identify the existing levels of deactivation; 3) identify any common deficiencies in road construction techniques; 4) identify any stability or disturbances concerns with roads and channels; 5) Identify any concerns with hill slope instability or mass wasting; 6) Re-calculate the Equivalent Clear-cut Area. The objective of the assessment is to: 1) Fulfill the requirements of an Erosion and Mass Wasting Risk Assessment 2) Recommend any watershed restoration activities; 3) Provide assistance to the Clearwater Forest District's, District Manager, in evaluating his obligations to fulfill the requirements under Section 45 of the Forest Practices Code (Protection of the Environment). sediment, erosion, water quality |
