Abstract/Description or Keywords | Integrated Woods Services Ltd. was commissioned by Weyerhaeuser Company Limited to complete a channel assessment on Whipsaw Creek watershed. The watershed, located southwest of Princeton, was previously divided into 3 sub-basins. The sub-basins include Whipsaw Creek Headwaters (sub-basin #109), Whipsaw Residual (sub-basin #107), and Lamont Creek (sub-basin #108) for a total area of 185.9 km2 . These same sub-basins have been re-used as the foundation for the Reconnaissance Channel Assessment. The intent of the assessment is to review the current channel conditions and compare them to 2 previous assessments completed in 1999 by Henderson Consulting (Overview Hydrologic Assessment for the Whipsaw Creek Watershed: including Sub-basins # 107 and 109; and Overview Hydrologic Assessment of the Lamont Sub-basin (#108), prepared for Weyerhaeuser Canada LTD. by Henderson Environmental Consulting, March 1999.) The objectives of the Reconnaissance Channel Assessment were to: 1) Field assess the current stream channel conditions, 2) Assess the sensitivity of the stream channels to impacts from land-use activities, 3) Identify sediment sources within the sub-basins coupled to the streams, 4) Expand on previous assessments, 5) Determine the effects of the current harvesting. watershed assessment, channel, erosion, sediment, water supply, peak flow, ECA |
