The Brookfield Creek watershed was identified as a priority for an assessment by a working group composed of representatives from government agencies and industry. The completed assessment included components of a full watershed assessment procedure. Integrated Woods Services Ltd. (IWS) was commissioned to complete a sediment source survey, a riparian assessment and a channel conditions assessment in the Brookfield Creek watershed, following the procedures implemented by the Kamloops Forest Region (Aug. 1998). Funding for the Brookfield Creek assessment was provided by Forest Renewal British Columbia (FRBC). The objective of this assessment was to identify the existing hydrologic and stream channel morphologic conditions in the watershed and to evaluate the implications of proposed forestry development on the Brookfield watershed. It was also intended that the physical information that was gathered would be used as an information source for potential watershed restoration projects in the drainage. road, sediment, erosion, channel, forest harvest |
