An Interior Watershed Assessment Procedure (IWAP) for the Mann Creek Watershed is the first phase in a multi-phase project which is currently in progress. Other phases of this project include a Sediment Source Survey (in progress), Terrain Stability Mapping (active), a Riparian Assessment Procedure and a Fish and Fish Habitat Inventory Procedure (in progress). All of these assessments are part of an Integrated Watershed Restoration Plan. An Access Management Map and Watershed Level and Component Project objectives should be completed prior to initiating watershed restoration prescriptions and major works. The primary objectives of the IWAP are to: 1) Assess the condition of the watershed using the IWAP Guidebooks (1995) hazard indices and develop recommendations which will restore and/or rehabilitate past environmental damage and mitigate further damage; 2) Increase the participation of local First Nations in forest and environmental management; 3) Increase the pool of locally available, trained staff for work in the emerging field of watershed planning and assessment. watershed assessment, erosion, ECA, sediment |
