The IWAP, Level 1 Analysis for the Lower Bonaparte River Watershed is the first phase in a multi-phase project. If accepted for FRBC funding, other projects such as a Sediment Source Survey (SSS), a Fish and Fish Habitat Assessment Procedure (FHAP), and Access management Map and a Watershed Level Planning and Project Component Objectives will be completed as the first stage of the Watershed Restoration Program (WRP). Each of these projects should be completed prior to initiating any watershed restoration prescriptions and/or major works. The primary objectives for undertaking an IWAP are to: 1) Assist forestry managers in understanding the type and extent of current water-related problems existing within the watershed and to recognize possible hydrological implications of proposed forestry-related development in the watershed; 2) Assess the condition of the watershed using pre-determined hazard indices and develop recommendations which, if undertaken, will restore and/or rehabilitate past environmental damage and mitigate or prevent further damage.
