Slocan Group, Vavenby Division (Slocan) retained Integrated Woods Services Ltd. (IWS) to complete a channel assessment on Raft River in August of 2001. The channel assessment completes a comprehensive review of Raft River Watershed that was initiated in 1995 by Slocan. Previous studies have included a: Level 1 Watershed Assessment, Road Condition Assessment, Fish and Fish Habitat Assessment, Overview Riparian Assessment, Access Management Map, and an Overview Interim Watershed Assessment. These previous assessments, however, had not included a review of channel conditions in the watershed. The objectives of he Raft River Assessment are to: 1) Field assess the current stream channel conditions; 2) Assess the sensitivity of the stream channels to impacts for forestry activities; 3) Identify opportunities for upslope and in-stream watershed restoration activities; 4) Evaluate the cumulative effects of land-use activities. channel, riparian, road, forest harvesting |
