The service area within the District boundaries covers approximately 930 hectares of which 226 hectares are irrigated orchard. There were an estimated 3,300 service connections providing potable water. The intent of a source assessment is to identify and evaluate the hazards to drinking water quality and quantity, characterize the risks and propose risk management strategies. Water source assessments as referenced in Part 3, section 18 of the Drinking Water Protection Act is the first step in Health Canadas multi-barrier approach to safe drinking water.
