Five permanent channel monitoring sites and two photo monitoring sites were established in the Mission Creek watershed in 1999. Two channel monitoring sites are located on Mission Creek (one upstream fiom Fish Hawk Creek and one upstream f?om Pearson Creek). Three other sites are located on tributaries to Mission Creek (one on Fish Hawk Creek, one on Pearson Creek and one on Belgo Creek). The two photo sites are located on Lees Creek and Unnamed Creek[refer to site map and location descriptions]. Annual site assessments have been conducted in 1999, 2000 and 2001. The intent of the channel monitoring program is to help quantify the degree of channel change over time and to determine the effects of future forest development on these streams. The monitoring information is intended to serve as a tool to help guide watershed management decisions. The results of this program are intended to compliment other watershed research and restoration efforts including the Watershed Assessment Procedure, Channel Assessment Procedure, and Watershed Restoration Program. channel, geomorphology, erosion, riparian, aquatic habitat, forest harvest, road |
