This interior watershed assessment report (IWAP) for the Mission Creek watershed has been prepared for the Ministry of Forests, Penticton Forest District as a component of the Watershed Restoration Project for the watershed. Mission Creek is the largest tributary (859 km) to Okanagan Lake which drains to the west entering Okanagan at Kelowna. The objectives of the assessment were to document watershed characteristics and present conditions, and to determine the potential for cumulative hydrologic impacts that may be associated with previous forest development and road construction in the watershed. Mission Creek is a fish-bearing stream with the first point of interest (POI) located at the mouth of the creek at Okanagan Lake. The second POI is located at the Black Mountain Irrigation District (BMID) intake. In addition to the completion of this IWAP, a sediment source survey (SSS) and access management maps are also being completed in the Mission Creek watershed by Dobson Engineering Ltd. Overview stream assessments were completed by Summit Environmental Consulting Ltd. in 1995. Please be advised that Appendix A Maps are not available on EcoCat. watershed assessment, water supply, forest harvest |
