As part of the Watershed Restoration program (WRP), Ainsworth Lumber Company ltd. of 100 Mile House, BC submitted proposals to Forest renewal BC (FRBC) to complete a Level 1 Interior Watershed Assessment Procedure (IWAP), Sediment Source Survey (SSS) and Fish-Habitat Assessment Procedure (FHAP) on the Bonaparte River watershed above the confluences with Scottie Creek. Through the Ministry of Forests, 100 Mile House, BC, Ainsworth Lumber Company Ltd., awarded BioTerra Consulting (Williams Lake) the contract to complete the Level 1 IWAP and SSS for this watershed. The watershed areas maintain a large rural population. The largest urban centre is Clinton; other smaller centres include 70 Mile House and Chasm. The watershed area supports considerable economic activity, including ranching, forestry, mining, resorts and general recreation. It is because of the high use, both industrial and recreational, and relative importance of this area as rearing habitat for anadromous fish stocks that this watershed area be given priority for WRP activities. This report is a summation of the final results of the Level 1 Watershed Assessment. erosion, aquatic habitat, riparian, water quality, sediment, ECA, forest harvest |
