The purpose of the IWAP was to assess the hydrologic condition of the study area and identify any areas of site degradation or concern and then, to anticipate possible environmental effects associated with proposed forest development. The main objectives of this Interior Watershed Assessment Procedure (IWAP) were: 1) To characterise the present state of natural resources and geomorphic processes within the Peddie Creek study area and identify existing forest resource use interactions and linkages; 2) To assess the cumulative affects of forest development in the study area. The assessment looked for evidence of changes in stream flow regimes, altered channel morphology, accelerated bank erosion, accelerated landslide activity, accelerated surface erosion and disturbed riparian areas within the study area; and. 3) To review the possible hydrological implications of proposed forest development or restoration activities within the study area and provide recommendations toward future development and restoration planning. watershed assessment, watershed management, erosion, streamflow |
