The Lemieux Creek watershed near Little Fort covers an area of 538 kilometres squared and supports residential and agricultural (including range) land use, forest harvesting, and several forms of recreation. In 1999, Summit Environmental Consultants Ltd. (Summit) was retained by Tolko Industries Ltd. - Louis Creek Division (Tolko) to conduct a hydrologic assessment of the watershed, and to make recommendations to guide future forest harvesting. Funding was provided by Forest Renewal BC (FRBC). The general objectives of the study were to assess the Lemieux Creek watershed in order to identify point source and cumulative channel impacts, to assess channel sensitivity and watershed routing efficiency to potential future forest harvesting, to provide guidance for future forest development, and to identify potential restoration opportunities. watershed assessment, water supply, ECA, forest harvest |
