The report follows the recommended format provided in the Interim Watershed Assessment Procedure guidelines (MOF, 1998). It is based primarily on information collected in the fall of 1998 during the preparation of an Integrated Watershed Restoration Plan (IWRP; Summit Environmental Consultants Ltd., 199). The IWRP included a Channel Condition and Prescription Assessment (CCPA), an Erosion and Mass Wasting Risk Assessment (EMWRA), and development of an Access Management Strategy (AMS). The general objectives of this report are to characterize the Blue and Macrae sub-basins, and provide recommendations on constraints to opportunities for forest development. Specific objectives are to: 1) Describe the hydrology, geomorphology, and sediment transport characteristics of the channels in the Blue and Macrae sub-basins; 2) Document any anthropogenic disturbances in the watershed, and identify the probable cause; 3) Identify risks to water quality and fish habitat from the current (1998-2003) five-year forest development plan; 4) Provide recommendations concerning maximum equivalent clear-cut area (ECA) levels; 5) Provide recommendations regarding watershed management and follow-up studies, if required. Please be advised that the map associated with this project is currently not available in EcoCat. erosion, watershed assessment, watershed management |
