Abstract/Description or Keywords | The FORREX Watershed Management Extension Program provides extension services on topics that directly or indirectly affect water resources in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. The goal of the program is to increase communication, understanding, and application of innovative knowledge and research results. Identifying issues, knowledge gaps, and resulting extension needs are critical elements of the program's extension delivery. Between 2007 and 2009, three regional qualitative studies (Northern Interior, Southern Interior, and Coast) were designed to document important issues, research gaps, and extension needs related to the management of forested watersheds in British Columbia (Redding et al. 2008; Redding and Nickurak 2008; Redding 2011). The purpose of these assessments was to gather respondent input to: ユ assist in strategic planning for the Watershed Management Extension Program, and ユ inform FORREX clients of the information needs and knowledge gaps identified by respondents. This article summarizes the key issues and information needs related to watershed management in British Columbia as expressed by respondents to these surveys. |
