Phase 1 of the Coquihalla Highway was completed in 1986. As part of this project, a considerable number of fisheries mitigation or enhancement structures were placed within Coquihalla River, Boston Bar Creek and Coldwater Rivers. At the time of installation, most of these structures were, in large measure, without precedent in British Columbia. A biological and physical monitoring program was therefore undertaken to document post-construction performance. The present report summarizes the results of the studies undertaken on Coldwater River to monitor the stability of the instream structures and the changes in channel morphometry which occurred following their placement. The results of the biological studies on Coldwater River, and an assessment of project impacts, are presented in a separate report. |
