Abstract/Description or Keywords | • The subject water intake weir was confirmed to still be in use by resident s of Deer Park • Permission to access the site for restoration work was granted by landowner Brian Powell • Several cords of large and small wood debris were removed from atop the weir • Eighteen volunteers from the Deer Park Recreations Society and West Kootenay Fly Fishing Club provided the labour and equipment to remove the debris • Flow through the weir was restored in short order the morning of August 12, 2007 • Over 7000 kokanee used Deer Creek for spawning in fall 2007 with half the population accessing habitat upstream of the restoration site • Close to two kilometres of Deer Creek are currently available for kokanee spawning |
