A site and channel profile survey was conducted on June 30, 2008 to characterize channel gradient, identify candidate sites for gravel placement, and develop a predictive model for average, annual gravel retention. • Approximately 8.5 cubic yards of 25 mm minus, river run gravel was distributed in the 130 m of channel below the Highway 3A bridge on August 5, 2008 • A single-pass kokanee spawner survey was conducted on September 15, 2008 and yielded no observations of kokanee or redds in Boulder Creek • 89 coloured stones were randomly placed in the 180 m downstream of the highway 3A bridge to assist in monitoring sediment movement on October 24, 2008. We recommend that Boulder Creek be revisited during post-freshet, low flows in 2009 to monitor retention of the coloured stones deployed in October 2008. |
