Centred in Kimberley, British Columbia Mainstreams’ prime focus is water. Mission: Mainstreams is a trans-boundary British Columbia Society whose purpose is to educate and heighten awareness on water related issues and solutions. This will be accomplished by the use of sound science, through: School education programs; Demonstration and/or monitoring projects; Providing access to project results to others; Community education presentations to encourage informed choices of stewardship and governance within the Columbia Basin Watershed, for the benefit of all inhabitants. Activities: Monitoring Mather Creek with residents; School education: 3-field-based programs (Creek Science, Water Science and Stream Trailer) 2-classroom programs (Macro Invertebrates and Climate Change Adaptation); Coordinate Columbia Basin Water Quality Project; Carry out riparian habitat restoration projects and workshops.
