Abstract/Description or Keywords | Project No. EP 967.02 Arrow Boundary Forest District, Murphy Creek Objectives: To measure and compare snowmelt on an adjacent forest and clearcut site using three separate techniques: Physical measures of snow ablation using weekly measures of snow water equivalent obtained with a federal snow tube. Daily measure of melt from the bottom of the snowpack using snowmelt lysimeters. Using micrometeorological measurements in the process oriented formulae developed by the USACE for point snowmelt. To assess the impact of forest removal on a melting snowpack during various climatic events. To evaluate and identify which climatic conditions have a major impact in terms of generating snowmelt and subsequent water inputs to the soil from a forest and clearcut site. Methods: The specific measures to fulfill the objectives are outlined in the Working Plan for EP 967.02. History: 1984/85 First winter of measurement; 1987/88 Last winter of measurement |
