Abstract/Description or Keywords Integrated Woods Services Ltd. was contracted by Weyerhaeuser Company Limited (Vavenby Division) to complete comprehensive watershed assessments for the Russell, Hascheak and McDougall Creek community watersheds. The Clearwater Forest District has identified these watersheds as a priority for a full watershed assessment. Russell, Hascheak and McDougall Creeks are designated as community watersheds under the Forest Practices Code of BC. As such, it is a legal requirement that watershed assessments be updated in these drainages every three years. The intake for the community waterworks is located adjacent to the confluence of Russell and Hascheak Creeks. Weyerhaeuser contributed Forest Renewal British Columbia funding for this project. The objectives of the detailed watershed assessments were to: 1) Expand on the existing Level 1 Interior Watershed Assessment Procedure (IWAP) data; 2) Field assess the current stream channel conditions; 3) Assess the sensitivity of the stream channels to impacts from forestry activities; 4) Identify opportunities for upslope and in-stream watershed restoration activities; 5) Provide recommendations regarding future forestry development within the watershed. The Russell and Hascheak Creek community watersheds are situated directly south of the North Thompson River, across from the town of Clearwater, BC. The McDougall Creek community watershed is situated directly east of the Hascheak catchment. All of the Russell drainage and most of the Hascheak and McDougall Creek catchments are designated as community watersheds under the Forest Practices Code of BC. The community watershed boundaries defined by the Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks (MoELP) for these drainages were utilized for the completion of the watershed assessment procedures. The intake for the community waterworks is located adjacent to the confluence of Russell and Hascheak Creek.
