Similkameen above Whipsaw Sub-basin (#54) with an area of 28, 848 ha, comprises the area draining into the Similkameen River above the confluence of Whipsaw Creek south to the confluence with Passayten River (see Location Map). The area represents a number of discreet sub-basins plus a large residual area. Drainage #54 is not by itself a discrete sub-basin, but represents the area delineated by the 1997 IWAP. This report presents the results of an overview hydrological assessment of the Similkameen above Whipsaw sub-basin, located south of Princeton. Weyerhaeuser Canada Ltd. (Merritt Division) initiated the study, partly in response to results of the Merritt Forest District IWAP completed in 1997, and partly to address concerns from the Ministry of Forests. Concerns included: peak flows, surface erosion and the impact of the five-year forest development plan. Fieldwork was carried out in September 1998. watershed assessment, ECA, peak flow, riparian, erosion |
