Abstract/Description or Keywords From July to November of 2010, Weyerhaeuser areas of the Okanagan Shuswap and Arrow Boundary Forest Districts (TSA 22, TSA 02 and TFL 59) were assessed using the 2009 fish passage protocol for closed-bottomed culverts by Karen of Penticton. Remedial fish passage works have been ongoing by Weyerhaeuser for several years based on partial assessment coverage. This project completes fish passage assessments over these areas with 707 sites included. These watersheds exhibit a wide range of road types including active forest industry roads, highways, public roads, driveways, many partially-deactivated roads and several crossings on old railroads dating back to the 1940s. Common fish species are Rainbow Trout and Brook Trout. There were 152 round culverts on streams with known fish or fish potential that were assessed for fish passage and additional sites identified as barriers (eg., weirs) or with erosion issues. Of the 152 round culverts assessed in the field, 133 were further analyzed for habitat gained and cost-benefit of remediation (45 as removals and 88 as replacements). Nineteen of the sites assessed in the field were not analyzed further because they were found to be non-fish bearing or not barriers to fish passage. Some of the 133 culvert barriers were not forestry roads and will be referred to other authorities. There are 113 culvert barriers to fish passage on forest industry road. Streams inspected included McCuddy Creek, Inkaneep Creek, Coteay Creek, Shatford Creek, Kallis Creek, Nicholson Creek.
