This report summarizes the results of the application of the Interior Watershed Assessment Procedure (IWAP) in the Oyama Creek watershed. The watershed assessment procedure was based on the Forest Practices Code guidebook dated September, 1995. The Oyama Creek watershed is located east of Oyama in the Southern Interior of British Columbia and is part of the Vernon Forest District (refer to map - Appendix A). Oyama Creek is designated as a community watershed and is used as a domestic and irrigation water supply by the Wood Lake Improvement District. The entire Oyama Creek watershed was assessed from the mouth of the creek at Kalamalka Lake (referred to as the point of interest [POI] in this report) to its headwaters. The majority of the Crown land in the watershed is part of a forest license held by Tolko Industries Ltd. Other forest tenures in the watershed are held by Kal Pine Products Ltd. and M. L. Loyst. The IWAP assessment is intended to be an office analysis to determine the potential for cumulative impacts resulting from past forest development as well as from proposed future development. The results have been derived from characteristics of the watershed based on topographic maps and historical forest development from forest cover maps. It is important to recognize that the results of the office assessment indicate a "potential" for hazards to exist.
