Through the use of procedures and protocols established by the Interior Watershed Assessment Procedure (IWAP) Guidebook (September, 1995), a Level 1 Analysis was completed for several tributaries of Mabel Lake. The sub-basins were examined using digital information, maps and air photos, and the required calculations were completed. It was determined that eight sub-basins, Styx Creek, Upper Sowsap, Lower Sowsap, Dale Creek, Dale-Devil Creek, Devil Creek, Napasis Creek and Tsuius Creek require a Level 2 Assessment (Channel Assessment Procedure). A second Level I is required for any of the sub-basins with forest development plans to assess how the proposed logging affects the hazard indices in these sub-basins (as required in the IWAP Level 1 Guidebook). watershed assessment, water quality, water supply, erosion |
