Abstract/Description or Keywords On behalf of the Okanagan Basin Technical Working Group, the Okanagan Nation Fisheries Commission (ONFC) contracted Summit Environmental Consultants Ltd. (Summit) to assess the risk of egg and alevin loss due to redd scour in the Okanagan River between McIntyre Dam and Oliver. The assessment is part of a comprehensive project to develop a decision analysis model of the biological and physical interactions that control production variations of sockeye salmon in Okanagan River. The decision analysis model consists of three principal sub-models: 1. Okanagan Lake and Okanagan River hydrology and water management sub-model; 2. Sockeye production sub-model; and 3. Kokanee production sub-model. This assessment was conducted in support of the sockeye production sub-model. Once developed, the three sub-models will form the basis of the decision analysis model that will be used by resource managers to improve water management practices and multiyear production of Okanagan sockeye salmon.
