Abstract/Description or Keywords In February 1996 Summit Environmental Consultants Ltd. was retained by Weyerhaeuser to carry out the IWRP including a Sediment Source Survey (road, hill-slopes, gullies), and an Access Management Strategy (AMS). In 1997, a Channel Assessment Procedure (CAP) was added to the assessment phase of the IWRP. The office and field assessments were completed between October 1996 and October 1997. The stakeholder and public consultation for the AMS processes (Phases 3 and 4) took place through 1997. Finn Creek is a tributary of the North Thompson River. It contains excellent spawning habitat for Coho and Chinook salmon (Department of Fisheries and Oceans, 1998), and sockeye salmon have been observed near the mouth. Resident fish include rainbow trout, bull trout, mountain whitefish, prickly sculpin, and slimy sculpin. Forest harvest has historically occurred in the Finn Creek watershed, and there has been some concern about the potential for cumulative effects on fish habitat (Department of Fisheries and Oceans, 1998). In 1996, Weyerhaeuser Canada Ltd. (Vavenby Division) received funding from Forest Renewal British Columbia ("FRBC") to prepare an Integrated Watershed Restoration Plan (IWRP) for the Finn Creek watershed. The IWRP process includes five phases: Phase 1: Review existing information; Phase 2: Conduct various field assessments; Phase 3: Develop watershed-level and component project objectives; Phase 4: Develop a WRP access management map; Phase 5: prepare an "Integrated Restoration Plan" report. watershed assessment
