Abstract/Description or Keywords Summit Environmental Consultants Ltd. has undertaken a channel assessment of Cahilty Creek for Tolko Industries Ltd., Louis Creek Division. A Level 1 Interior Watershed Assessment (IWAP) completed by Beaudry (1996) recommended that a Level 2 channel assessment be undertaken, based on potential impacts to peak flows and surface erosion associated with forest harvesting. An initial field visit was completed by Mr. Craig Beeson, Ministry of Environment, Lands and parks (MoELP), Kamloops, and Mr. Norm Fennell, R.P.F., Tolko Industries Ltd. on April 24, 1996. Following this initial field inspection, MELP requested that a Level 2 stream channel assessment be completed prior to future harvesting in the watershed. The present equivalent clear-cut area (ECA) in the watershed is approximately 26%, and proposed harvesting in the next five years will increase the ECA to approximately 31%. Field inspections for the channel assessment were completed to June 18 and 19, 1996, by Mr. Scott Babakaiff, M.Sc., G.I.T. and Mr. Dave Hutchinson, B. Sc. of Summit Environmental Consultants Ltd. This report presents the results of the channel assessment and address the question of whether the proposed harvesting is likely to impact the creek. channel assessment, ECA, forest harvest
