Abstract/Description or Keywords This report presents water quality status and trend information for Similkameen River. B.C. Environment and Environment Canada have jointly operated a network of quality monitoring stations on major rivers and lakes in British Columbia since 1985. Sufficient data have now been collected at the Flathead and Similkameen Rivers, mentioned in this report, for trend assessment to begin. The document assesses the water quality trend of Similkameen River. The goal is to inform the public on if water quality is improving, deteriorating or remaining about the same over the years. The monitoring program is intended to allow assessment of the present status of the waterbodies, and especially of any trends in the water quality of these sites. The report presents statistical and ecological analysis of the water quality data from Flathead and Similkameen River, as well as as of the sampling program from which the data were derived. The data analysis had two precise goals: Firstly for comparison of the data against any long-term trends and secondly to expose the sources such as hydrological, meteorological, ecological or anthropogenic data.
