Abstract/Description or Keywords Biophysical Mapping (1:50,000 scale, displayed at 1:100,000 scale) was done for the Wells Gray study area. The study area includes Wells Gray Provincial Park, plus two areas outside the Park, Trophy Mountain and Spanish Creek. It is located in east-central BC and north of Clearwater. The project contains Biophysical base data in the form of inventory maps, intended mainly for wildlife planning. The Vegetation and Terrain Maps will also provide a base for many other resource planning requirements within the Park. Project files include base maps and maps of generalized surficial materials, shallow materials, geological processes, biophysical classification for wildlife capability, biogeoclimatic subzones, broad vegetation cover types, wildfire/ungulate habitat impact assessment, suitability for arboreal lichens, ecoregions, biogeoclimatic units and vegetation landscapes, browse enhancibility, habitat suitability for grizzly bears, winter range suitability for caribou and winter range suitability for moose (south half only). The study area is contained in mapsheets 93A, 83D, 92M and 92P and the following Biogeoclimatic Subzones were included in the project: Cool, Semi-Moist, Central Interior Cedar - Hemlock (ICHe); Moist, Central Interior Cedar - Hemlock (ICHm); Wet, Central Interior Cedar - Hemlock (ICHw); Wet, Central Montane Interior Cedar - Hemlock (ICHv); Moist, Central Engelmann Spruce - Subalpine Fir (ESSFm); Wet, Central, Upper Engelmann Spruce - Subalpine Fir (ESSFmp); and Moist, Alpine Tundra (ATe).
