Abstract/Description or Keywords Several damaging debris flow and flood events occurred in areas burned by severe wildfires in 2003 and 2007. The BC
Forest Service has developed a procedure for analyzing risks to public safety and infrastructure from such events. Each
fire season, for wildfires which present potential risks, burn severity is mapped and sites of potential hazards are
identified. The results are communicated to local governments and other stakeholders, who are responsible for
evaluating risks, warning residents, and applying mitigation strategies. The 2009 Terrace Mountain fire near Kelowna is
presented as an example of the procedure. erosion, wildfire, disturbance, terrain stability, landslide, geomorphology
