Abstract/Description or Keywords The Pacific Fisheries Resource Conservation Council (PFRCC) is interested in hearing about the state
of wild salmon populations. Council members have found great value in listening to communities,
First Nations, industry and stewards around BC about local issues and using these comments to help
develop work plans to define areas of concern for BC's salmon populations. PFRCC has incorporated
these ideas to help inform federal and provincial Ministers of Fisheries on issues related to wild
Pacific salmon.
Communities of place and interest have a wealth of knowledge. Through public meetings, PFRCC has
compiled local and regional perspectives across BC in order to gain knowledge on issues and areas of
concern, and explore potential solutions to help conserve wild salmon populations. Community
meetings have been developed to:
テ share information on natural and human influences on wild salmon;
テ gather local knowledge and perspectives; and
テ compile information and ideas to help the PFRCC develop and provide advice to government, and
help shape future activities and information on wild salmon.
