Resource Name Beatty, JM et al. 2006. Guidelines for sampling benthic invertebrates in British Columbia Streams. BC Ministry of Environment.
Resource Purpose There is a wealth of printed literature as well as information accessible on the internet from agencies and universities, which can provide good advice on sampling devices, analytical and statistical methods to produce more reliable and reproducible information.  These guidelines are intended for a wide audience as opposed to benthic ecology experts.  However, the guidelines are an attempt to aassist government and non‐government investigators, proponents of land development or industry, by providing pertinent references as well as recommendations for standardizing sampling methods  acceptable to the ministry to enhance the comparability and validity of benthic invertebrate monitoring data in B.C.  Appendix 1 has a list of contacts in Victoria and in each of the ministry’s regional offices, who may be contacted for more information and/or advice.
