Abstract/Description or Keywords |
The overarching environmental goal for the proposed New Prosperity Mine is to maintain Fish Lake as a healthy, functioning ecosystem. A key question for the environmental assessment is “Will Taseko’s proposed water treatment of Fish Lake achieve this goal?” The purpose of this memo is to provide a review of water quality modelling of Fish Lake and other water bodies conducted by Taseko Mines Limited (TML) for their proposed New Prosperity Mine. This document supports the review being undertaken by Tsilhqot’in National Government (TNG) in preparations for public hearings. Sections 1 to 3 pertain to Fish Lake water quality modelling. Section 4 discusses the pit lake and water bodies potentially impacted by the proposed project. Section 5 concerns water balance predictions made by TML. Finally, section 6 includes the overall conclusions of the review. |
